Opto MOSFET relay for High Voltage Applications
Bright TOWARD achieves a higher level of power handling capability using LED triggered D-MOSFET technology. Compared to traditional mechanical relays, Opto MOSFET relays provide great benefits, including reducing real-estate of PCB – small form factor, longer life as semiconductor, and high-speed switching -quick response and performance. Opto MOSFET relay for high voltage applications in Industrial, Robotics, Security, and a broad range of applications. The Control line is optically isolated from the high voltage signal line. Therefore, these products give design flexibility in high power applications and ensure great dielectric strength between input and output signals.
This project has been designed around TLP250/352 which is Opto-Coupler IGBT/MOSFET Gate Driver from Toshiba and Mosfet IRFP260 from IR, This relay consists of optically isolated gate driver and low impedance Mosfet. The combination of low resistance and high load current handling capabilities make this Relay suitable for a variety of switching applications. These devices are ideally suited for. MOSFET, since the IGBT acts as a MOSFET during most of the turn-on interval. When a gate signal is applied, the gate emitter voltage of the IGBT rises from zero to VGE(TH), as shown in figure 4. This voltage rise is due to the gate resistance (Rgate) and the CGE. 4 - IGBT Turn-On Sequence The turn-on time is a function of the output.
